August 16th marks the 31st anniversary of the passing of Elvis Presley!  And yes, he is alive!!!! Now, before you cart me off, in a net......no, I don't believe he's still walking among us, although that would be my fondest wish.  Yet, thanks to his legion of fans who are the most dedicated and loyal as they come, he has been kept alive.  My world, as I knew it, truly stopped on that dark day so many years ago....I just instinctively knew that things were never be the same again.....some of the fun would be gone...the magic...and I was right. He was just something special.   All these years later, I can truly say there's not been one day that I haven't thought about Elvis.  He was and is that important in my life.  And I don't mean "just" mine.....millions of people feel the same way.   I no longer try to explain it to those who don't "get it"......those who do understand are the ones who matter to me!    I actually feel really sorry for anyone who doesn't have this kind of hero in their life.   Aside from all the joy from his concerts, songs  and movies.....Elvis gave me my best friends and my most memorable experiences . How would a kid from Chatham end up on stage with the Jordanaires?   End up knowing his family and friends? How would I score a personal interview with Lisa Marie Presley?  I will never take that for granted.  I could never repay to him what he gave to me....but I will try to my last breath.  He deserves so much more respect tht he gets...and while he doesn't need me to defend or promote him....I will ....   Elvis....I hope you know how very much you are loved and deeply missed.
