“Stop Spot Reducing….It Doesn’t Work!”

 

Hey Everyone… Welcome back to my blog on B101fm.com! Today’s blog is about spot reduction fat loss, and how it is a very ineffective way to train.

When you join up at a fitness club, odds are there is usually one or two body parts that you are looking to improve on more so than others. Let’s use the stomach and the thighs for example. If you are storing more fat in these areas compared to others, odds are you will focus more on training those body parts more intensely than others. This is such a misconception and I will tell you why using a simple analogy. Think of your muscles as workers building a house, the house is your dream body. If you have a crew of 20 workers compared to a crew of 2 workers, odds are building that house will take a lot longer with only 2 workers. The more muscle (“workers”) that is active and functioning in your body, the more calories you will burn and the more fat you will melt away which will bring you closer to your ideal body (“house”). So it is ideal to train the full body rather than just focusing on specific areas you want to improve. Your results will be enhanced, and the areas you were looking for the most results will show more improvement by utilizing a full body exercise routine rather than trying to “spot reduce”
