Tell us what you really think...but only if it's good!

Good morning and welcome to the weekend!!

Today's blog is about something funny that happened to Jamie and I on Wednesday.

Every so often, a company, in an effort to launch a new product, will drop by with samples of their new product for us to try on the air. One would think that the said companies would have to be pretty confident in their product to put themselves out there like that and risk a bad review but they do it.

This happened on Wednesday when MacDonalds decided to give us an early preview of their new Iced Coffee drink. You see, I really dont like trying things on the air because I was born without a truth filter and I find it hard, if not impossible, to lie about how I feel about..well about  anything really. Trying things  live puts us in the  precarious position of pleasing the client and being honest with you, the listener. Although I did enjoy the iced coffee from Mickie Dees, it reminded Jamie and I of another live tryout incident that didn't go as well and many years later, still sends Jamie into fits of laughter.

In my defense, I was totally unprepared when Pepsi reps dropped by the morning show to get us to sample their new drink "Bubble Pop" on the air. If you can picture this, live on the air...the rep( a big client of ours) hands us each a drink...we opened it up...and took a huge swig...which was when I noticed a jelly like substance I wasn't expecting floating around in my mouth while I was trying to swallow...which immediately gave me the heebie jeebies...which then caused me to spit it out (live on the air) and yell at the top of my lung...OMG...EEEEEEUUUUUUUWWWW.....GROSS!!!!!! This then caused Jamie to spit his out...because he was laughing so hard....as you can imagine...not exactly the reaction that the reps from Pepsi were looking for.....it still amazes me how fast Perky Paula went from being well perky to po'd:)

Apparently, this bubble pop was based on bubble tea...a Japanese delicacy which has jelly bubbles floating in it...a big hit in Japan...but the craze hadn't made itself known to me yet....I guess that's why I should read the press releases before I try a new product:)

It's funny because to this day, years later, I still have people come up to me that remembered that show and my horrified reaction....it wasn't great for business but at least everyone knew that the at the very least, they get the unvarnished truth from our morning show:)

Have a great weekend:)
