Good morning and welcome to a Tuesday blog...I hope you had a great long family day weekend and found it to be a good remedy for the February blahs...quite alot to catch up on this morning...we'll start with the weekend round-up...
Although Jamie and I did work yesterday, the office was closed so it felt like a bit of a holiday for us too..there's nothing like coming into work in your sweats with no make-up on...it felt rather decadent...since Jamie was the one who had to feast his eyes on my glamour puss look for most of the morning...he may feel differently about that...but I digress...I digress quite a bit...I enjoy digressing...
I am happy to report that I actually did something for Valentine's Day that didn't involve any of my girlfriends, my flannel pj's, Bridget Jones's Diary, or a tub of ice-cream:) Being someone that's always been a little "on the fence" about the Hallmark Holiday...I wasn't sure how I felt about the big day...the rational, practical side of me kind of thinks it's a little bit ridiculous that the day ...a date that for most...doesn't really have any real significance to their relationship... has been designated for love...then there's the unabashedly girly, romantic side of me that really appreciated having it acknowledged by someone special...and that is all I plan to say on THAT subject... for now:)
Now...on to week 6 of our Ultimate Loser Contest...I have to say that every week...my admiration for these ladies grows in leaps and bounds...even though everyone didn't go down this week...I loved that they are taking responsibility for their successes and for the weeks that they haven't done as well...because...at the end of the day...it doesn't really matter what's going on in our lives or what inner demons we're fighting when it comes to weight loss...we are responsible for everything that goes into our mouths...noone forces us to lift that fork a few more times...grab that extra helping...or to snag a cookie from the cookie jar...ultimately...WE have to be accountable...and if there's a secret to weight loss...I believe that that's it...absolute responsibility and accountability for everything that we do to and for our emotional and physical health...and these ladies are getting that and I'm so proud of them...I have to give a special shout out to Ruth who went up a pound this week but fessed up to the fact that she had fallen off the wagon a few times and vowed to get back on track...I loved her honesty and candour and am positive she'll be back on top next week...good luck ladies:) Here are their blogs and weight loss stats for week six...
Luanna Harrison- Up 2lbs
Well as far as I was concerned last week was an amazing week ...that is until the weigh when the scale said that I was up 2 pounds!!! DISAPPOINTMENT is an understatement!!! I had what I considered my best week ever. The training was going great. I finally got the portion thing on the food figured out and all was humming along nicely and then BAM...UP 2 pounds!!! All of the explanations and excuses and yes I consider them excuses are hogwash. WHAT DID NOT GO RIGHT...I do not know...I am not a quitter so I will not quit...but this disappointment will not be taken lightly by me!!!
Got the stomach flu bug on Saturday and am still reeling from the effects of it...maybe...finally...the scale will be my friend...sickness = pounds down...not fully relying on this however...as soon as my strength is back...I will be back....
Sue Gaudet- Down 6lbs-2.01% body weight
Although I was sick, it was a good week weight wise! I'm down a total of 29 lbs and am very excited about it! There are only 2 weeks left in the competition and it is a little scary to think of doing this on my own but I know I will be able to use the tools that I have been given to continue my journey. Have a great week everyone!
Ruth French- Up 1lb
This was a very hard week. Knowing that the end is near for the contest was not enough to control the extra nibbbles here and there. Although I did not totally blow my meal plan I did have a couple of this here and a couple of that there. Those nibbles add up, even though I busted my butt at the gym this week I went up a pound. Even though I am discouraged at least I know why.
Only two more weeks left. I am going to miss my personal trainer Allie. She is great. Altough she thinks up new ways to test me, I am seeing the results. I have more endurance and self confidence that I can do it. This week I also attended another spin class, which I found more enjoyable this time then the first time I tried it ( I might even try it again).
I also want to congradulate my other team members. Everyone is doing amazing and I can not get over the changes that everyone is seeing in just a few shorts weeks. Keep it up girls you are all doing great.
Julie Jones-Down 4lbs-2.25% Body Weight
We are into our final 2 weeks and the time has flown by. I have hit some bumps in the road, however the momentum is still strong as I have such a wonderful support group, family and friends, cheering me on.
MASH BASH, was such a celebration for me. I could not believe the luck we had for weather, and I was so comfortable and happy to be fitting into my outdoor wear, that I did not want the day to end. Our group skied from 10am to 5pm with a short stop for lunch and an afternoon break.
This is precisely why I wanted to be in this competition. I love to participate in active events especially with my family, and I was becoming the mom that watched. Later today I will be challenging my 9 year old to another skipping competition. She couldn't believe that I could do 20 consecutive skips without tripping last week, just wait until she watches me do 40 without tripping this week. HA!
