Family Day Weekend Round-up

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Good morning!

It was a somewhat lonely morning for me today without my esteemed co-host. In case you missed it, Jamie went home about a half hour into the morning show with a chest cold. He was going to stick it out but I urged him to go home and get some rest . My motivation for such selflessness was admittedly twofold...I figured that the less time he spent at the station meant that I would have a lesser chance of catching what he has AND that for a change, Meghan would be the one to get the blow by blow account of how the virus is tracking through his body...Sorry Meghan...I know I let you down:)

Anyhoo...wasn't that a spectacular weekend? I just loved having that extra day. I guess I cherish long weekends more than most because working for a radio station means that we dont get them off very often. Promotionally speaking, long weekends are usually a great chance for radio stations to get out to the various events and promote themselves. Dont get me wrong, we love getting out there and meeting you..it's our chance to see what YOU look like...but it is also nice to have that extra morning to sleep in until 5am:)

My weekend was spent travelling to and fro for various reasons. My nephews 6th birthday party fell on Valentine's Day this year so it was off to Oakville to gather en famille to celebrate the big day. With a new baby on the way for my Step-brother and sister in-law, the addition of two new dogs, and a few new boyfriends...family get togethers have become quite chaotic...You wont hear any complaints from me though...coming from a small family...I've always secretly wanted those big noisy family gatherings...there's something festive about having alot of people you love in the same room...even if the end result is usually a couple of Tylenols and temporary hearing loss...

I also had a great time taking my Nephew Will to hockey practice for the first time...even though having Auntie Tara and Grampa on the sidelines proved to be more of a hindrance than a help...I had made some signs for us to wave from the stands during practice which I think served as too much of a distraction for the little guy...I could almost hear the coach gnashing his teeth together every time Will stopped mid-drill and waved to us up in the stands...I have a funny feeling his little fan club wont be welcome at future practices...serious business this 6 yr old hockey league...once again, my suggestions that he take up figure skating were met with cold hard stares from the peanut gallery...mostly the men:)

Have a great day!
