Did you get to make it out to the Waterfront Festival this weekend? I know I say this each year, but this was the best Waterfront Festival yet... no really, I mean it! The weather was absolutely perfect, plus the performers this year were incredible! Dan Hill, Laurell and Shawn Desman!!!! Shawn Desman fans packed Heritage park to watch his performance Saturday night on the B101 Stage, and Chris and I were lucky enough to have Shawn cohost with us live from the Waterfront Festival in the morning.
Let me just say, and I mean this whole heartedly. Shawn Desman is the nicest artist I have ever met. Just like everybody else, you wonder what artist will be like in person... will they have a big ego? Will they be nice? Will they want to answer all of your questions? Shawn Desman was the most laid back "chillaxed" (as the kids say) artist ever! He was up for speaking about anything and was genuinely so excited to be performing in Barrie. Chris and I got to chat to him a little bit about his younger (and equally as famous) brother Danny Fernandes too. Some people don't know that they're brothers because they don't go by the same last name. Shawn explained that his last name too of course is Fernandes, but in high school his friends would call him by the last part of his last name, 'des. So they'd say something along the lines of "yo, 'des, man, come over here" so he thought that would be a cool name, hence Shawn Desman.
If you saw his performance on Saturday night he absolutely killed it! The crowd went insane for him, especially during his most recent song, Shiver. They knew all of the words! The dancing... the singing, it was all just incredible. If you got to see it, or even if you didn't, Shawn Desman will be on tour with the Backstreet Boys this summer, so make sure you get tickets for that!
Here are Chris and I with the 'des man!
