You hear people say they have "near death experiences". I had one the other day, and I almost died.
Am I being a bit dramatic? Maybe. But it would have been what I had learned in my grade 10 English class when we were reading Shakespeare, my "tragic downfall".
I spend a lot of time and money on my hair. Getting it dyed fun colours, using the appropriate salon brand shampoo to keep the colour in, using Moroccan Oil on my hair (if you haven't heard of it, look it up, it's amazing for your hair) and of course, blow drying and straightening my hair. So death by hair-styling would have been appropriate. I know, you would have lost me and it would have been pretty sad.
Okay, so here's what happened. The cord on the hairdryer I was using must have been tangled for a little while, because the wires were coming through the protective casing. I sat in my usual spot in front of the mirror to start drying my hair. For people who don't blowdry their hair, it's not the most exciting thing to do. It's actually quite boring, and you tend to zone out, which is exactly what I was doing... and then... all of a sudden.. POW! My hairdryer caught on FIRE!! Right by my hair!! It was quite traumatizing. Thank god my hair didn't catch on fire... although it did smell pretty smokey. Maybe it's a sign that I should let my hair fall in it's natural waves:)
