I am a HUGE fan of the cupcake.
What's not to like? You get your own mini cake, really.
I love the pretty icing. I love the sprinkles. I love the fluffy cake. I love the dainty wrapper which I always chew on after I'm done the cupcake. What?! The crumbs stuck to it are delicious! Don't knock it before you try it. Okay, where was I? Oh right, talking about how great cupcakes are.
But let's face it... they're a sweet item that are mainly targetted at women. It would be quite funny to see a big, burly construction worker peeling a cupcake wrapper off of a pink coated cupcake with sprinkles all over it.
Enter the manly cupcake, which is popular at a bakery in Toronto called For The Love Of Cake. You can get "mancakes" in flavours like beer, whisky and bacon. That's right.. no pink sprinkles on these mancakes.
And manly cupcakes are popular all over, including a bakery in New York called Butch Bakery. The owner at this bakery decided to take action and "butch up" the cupcake because they were known as being pink, sweet, cute and magical. You can get manly cupcakes decorated in plaid, checkerboard, marble and army print.
Throwing a birthday party for your hubbie, or a bachelor party for your best bud? Curious to see what the manly cupcakes look like? Here's what you'll get if you order them from Butch Bakery:

Manly or feminine.. these cupcakes all end up looking the same in the end anyway:)
