Who's not loving this weather we're having right now?  Temperatures up to 15-16 this week.  I know we're never out of the woods in March and April here in central Ontario, but you have to think this is it for spring.  Old man winter..buh, bye!  Yet I find this is always a scruffy time of year.  The snow is melting, it's mucky in area parks, sidewalks and streets are still covered in the sand and gravel that road crews used to combat the snow, and garbage seems to be everywhere!!!  Where does it all come from?  It really bugs me to see all the refuse that litters the side of our roads and highways.  I know some of it has been dragged around by the snowploughs, but are we really that lazy and slovenly during the winter months?  Just check out the Highway 400/Bayfield Street off ramp and the cigarette butts that have accumulated over the winter.  It's pretty disgusting.  I like to associate spring with the colour green, but all those thousands of cigarette butts for me do not evoke that colour.  Community Clean Up Barrie Day isn't until Saturday April 25th, but hopefully we'll all have a chance to pick up an empty plastic bottle or Tim Horton's coffee cup before then.
